Yewa People Development Council Set To Two-day Education Summit On Tuesday, Wednesday

Major stakeholders including Ogun State Education, Science and Technology Commissioner, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, university dons and educationists will be storming the ancient town of Ilaro this Tuesday and Wednesday for historic Yewa Education Summit 

Chairman of the Governing Council of Yewa People Development Council (YPDC), Prof.Rahamon Bello made this known  during a recent media-briefing held at the council's secretariat in Ilaro, ahead of the two-day summit 

Governor Dapo Abiodun according to the organizers, will be declaring the event open on Tuesday while a Professor of Sociology of Education and former Dean, Faculty of Education, Olabisi Onabanjo University,Ago -Iwoye ,Taiwo Edun will be presenting lead paper titled, "Critical Assessment of the current State of Education and its impact on the socio-economic development of Yewa land"

According to him, Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba(Dr) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle is the Royal Father and Chairman of the opening session of the summit which has its theme "Repositioning Education In Yewaland: Challenges and Prospects"

Day-one of the summit include paper presentation on "The Roles of Critical Stakeholders In Advancing Education in Yewaland by Very Rev.Akanbi Orobiyi, a retired Principal General, Yewa/Awori Division while a former Vice-Chancellor of Crescent University Abeokuta and Professor of Economics, Sheriffdeen Tella will be presenting the second paper on " Funding and Financing for Sustainable Educational Development in Yewaland 

On the second day of the summit, Deputy Rector (Academic) of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Dr(Mrs) Charlotte B Iro-Idoro will be presenting paper on "TVET , Entrepreneurship and Digital Training Pathways for Youth Development In Yewaland "

Also Director , Centre for Counseling Services, Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun,Ijebu-Ode , Prof.Tolu Ogunleye will be delivering a paper on "Framework for Career Advisory and Mentorship for Yewa Youths while  Dean, Faculty Of Education, National Open University (NOUN), Prof.Bamikole Ogunleye will be working on putting together all the presentations to produce a workable action plan (blueprints) at the end of summit 

The former Vice-Chancellor of University of Lagos says the purpose of the summit is to allow stakeholders to reflect on and carry out a holistic situation analysis of the State of education in Yewaland and assess this vis-a-vis state of education in other parts of Ogun State and Nigeria 

He added that the summit amongst others would be used to chart a course of action and embark on robust converted efforts towards attaining improvements on the situation in recognition of education as a veritable instrument for effecting desirable change in the society
