Ogun Govt To Complete 2.8km Akute-Ajuwon Road Within Two Weeks

Contractor handling the ongoing rehabilitation and asphalting of the 2.8-kilometer Akute-Ajuwon Road in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State has assured government of completion of the road project within the next two weeks.


The CCECC contractor, Jason Zhang handling the project, during an inspection visit to the site, assured that the road, a crucial link between Ogun and Lagos States, which had long been in a deplorable condition would be completed in two weeks times, disclosing that major aspects of the work, including drainage construction, earthworks, and stabilisation, have been completed, paving the way for the final asphalting.


“We are now in the final stage of the project, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, the entire 2.8km stretch will be fully asphalted and ready for use within the next two weeks,” he said.

Residents and business owners in the area have expressed relief and optimism, noting that the road’s completion would ease transportation difficulties and boost economic activities.

A trader, Mrs. Bosede Alabi, commended the state government for prioritising the project, saying the road had been a nightmare for years, noting that they had endured bad portions and flooding, but now, excited that it would soon be a thing of the past.

Similarly, a commercial driver, Mr. Adekunle Fashola, lauded the quality of work done so far, emphasising that a good road network would reduce vehicle maintenance costs and travel time.


Similarly ,the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, reaffirmed the State government’s commitment to delivering durable and high-quality roads, noting that the Akute-Ajuwon Road project aligns with the administration’s broader vision for infrastructure development, while commending residents for their cooperation with construction workers.


Meanwhile, drainage reconstruction has commenced on Magboro Road in preparation for its full-scale rehabilitation. This follows Governor Dapo Abiodun’s recent approval for the immediate re -construction of the road during the flag-off of rice harvests on a 200-hectare rice plantation in Magboro, Ifo Local Government Area.
