It was multiple blessings for David Gbenga Olasore , a former Scribe of Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR ) and currently a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Referee Assessor who retired from the service of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) as Head of Administration at the Abeokuta branch of the examination council, after attaining the mandatory age of 60 years on the 17th of March, 2025 and 35 years of unblemished record in public service
The event celebrated in a grand-style over the weekend in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, witnessed the celebration of the 60th birthday of Olasore, 35 years of public service with WAEC, wedding anniversary with his loving wife, Omolayo and public presentation of ptwo books titled "Conquering the Storms" and "Not a Fair Garland " written by the celebrant
The colourful occasion attracted dignitaries including the immediate past Head of National Office of WAEC in Nigeria, Dr. Patrick Areghan , a Public Relations Expert and member of Board of Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority, Mr. Femi Dokunmu and Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya's representatives, Rector of D,S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic ,Itori, Ewekoro Local Government, Dr. Goke Rauf , Head of Public Relations and Protocol unit of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic , Yemi Ajibola, Clerics at the Redeemed Christian Church of God and owners of private schools
Chairman of the event, Dokunmu, a former Chairman of Ogun State chapter of NIPR , described Olasore as a very intelligent and hardworking who served with him as the State Secretary of institute
Similarly, the former HNO of WAEC, Dr. Areghan was full of praises for Olasore who worked with him as Personal Assistant while he was Director of Administration at head office in Yaba
He described the celebrant as workaholic who was always ready to carry out any task given to him while in public service
Olasore according to him, is a committed family man who cherishes and cares for members of his immediate family
Also the State Head of Service,Mr.Kehinde Onasanya who was represented by one of the Permanent Secretaries , Mr Jola Oyeneye and his wife , Mrs Onasanya equally lauded the celebrant for the 35 years of unblemished record in public service
The State Head of Service urged those still in public service and civil service to be more dedicated and committed to their responsibilities and make Nigeria as a whole better than the current
Equally Pastor Adelaja in his exhortation quoting relevant Chapters and verses in the holy Bible, attributed Olasore's unblemished record to the grace of God
The cleric urged those still in public service to emulate the outstanding qualities of the Celebrant for them to celebrated after the retirement just like Olasore whose contributions to WAEC are being acknowledged and appreciated at the event
High points of the event include public presentation of two books written by Olasore , "Conquering the Storms" and "Not a Fair Garland" and later the eventual cutting of the 60th birthday cake supervised by Chairman of occasion, Mr. Femi Dokunmu
