Sultan Declares Sunday As Eid-el-Fitri Day For Muslims After Sighting Of New Moon In Nigeria For Shawwal 1446 AH

The Sultan of Sokoto and President General Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Nigeria, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III has declared Sunday, 30th of  March, 2025 as Eid-el-Fitri Day, following the sighting of the new moon of Shawwal 1446 AH.which marks the end of Ramadan fasting 

Abubakar who made the announcement in a special broadcast to the Muslims Ummah on Saturday night in his palace in Sokoto, said the new moon was sighted in various parts of the country, following reports received by the moon sighting committee from the traditional, Muslim leaders and organisations across the country.

The reports of sighting the new moon was duly verified and authenticated by the Sultanate Council Moon Committee

"Consequent upon this, tomorrow Sunday, 30th March 2025 become the first day of Shawwal 1446 AH and the day of the Eid el Fitr,” Sultan Sa’ad declared

Sultan who charged Muslims to always pray for leadership of this country, urged them to always imbibe moral and lessons of Ramadan fasting and be good ambassadors for Islam
