Rivers Utd Reduce Remo Stars Lead As Ikorodu City Displace Shooting Stars In Top Three In NPFL

Rivers United of Port Harcourt on Saturday reduced the lead of Remo Stars of Ikenne-Remo, after a lone-goal win against visiting Niger Tornadoes of Minna in a week 28 match of Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL 

The Pride of Rivers under the tutelage of former Super Eagles tactician, Finidi George maintained their second position with 46 points, eight points behind leaders Remo Stars who are still on 54 points, leaving the visitors in the 11th position with 37 points 

The Daniel Ogunmodede tutored Skye Blues Stars who were eleven points clear on the table before the week 28 encounter, could not sustain such margin after their loss on the road to Bendel Insurance of Benin who won 2-1 to move to the seventh spot with 41 points 

Debutants Ikorodu City of Lagos displaced Shooting Stars of Ibadan, after their vital three maximum points against Lobi Stars who lost by a lone-goal at their adopted home ground Nnamdi Azikwe stadium in Enugu 

Adelani 's goal in the 81 st minute of the match played on Saturday, was enough for Ikorodu City who moved to the third position with 44 points  while the home side , Lobi Stars are still languishing at the bottom of Nigeria's top flight league with just 23 points 

Earlier on Friday, Shooting Stars dropped from their top three positions with 43 points, after losing to home side, Katsina United who won by a lone-goal to move to the 13th with 36 points 

The remaining matches in week 28 continue on Sunday with Plateau United of Jos taking Abia Warriors, Kwara United trying Kano Pillars for size in Ilorin while Enyimba International of Aba host El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri 

Defending champions, Enugu Rangers host relegation threatened Akwa United of Uyo , Heartland battle visiting Bayelsa United of Yenegoa, while Nasarawa United trade tackles with visiting Sunshine Stars of Akure in a battle to survive relegation as both sides are in the 17th and 18th positions respectively with 31 points each
