Ogun Govt Reiterates Commitment To Childhood Qualitative ,Accessible Education

Ogun State Government has reiterated its commitment to providing qualitative education for every one at early stage of childhood 

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu who gave the re-assurance during a stakeholders meeting on Creating Awareness on the Importance of Investing in Early Childhood Education, organised by the Federal Ministry of Education (FME), held at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the move was in tandem with the present administration's Initiative on Education.

Prof. Arigbabu recalled that he had been leading the enrollment drive, at the beginning of every session across the four division of the State, to sensitise and encourage parents and guardians on the need to take advantage of the free education policy of the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration and enroll their children in order to reduce out-of-school children.

"I want to assure you that the State will continue to maintain its leadership position and will not rest on our oars until every child that is supposed to be in school is in school," Arigbabu affirmed.

Similarly,  the Minister of Education, Dr. Maroof Alausa in his keynote address, 

said the Nigerian government had prioritised early childhood education in its National Policy on Education, emphasising that at least one year of pre-primary education should be compulsory for all children.

Represented by the Chief Education Officer, FME, Mrs. Carissa Eyo, Dr. Alausa

stressed the need to prioritize Early Childhood Care, Development and Education (ECCDE)

 "As we continue this campaign, let us remember that, the foundation we lay for our children today will determine the future of our nation tomorrow, let us prioritise  as a fundamental right for every Nigerian child" 

In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko hinted that, since the nomenclature of Nursery and Primary in the public schools, more parents and guardians have been motivated to enroll their wards especially children between 0-5 years, imploring stakeholders to put all hands-on deck to ensure every child in the State have access to quality education.

In their separate remarks, the Executive Secretary, Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Mikail Lawal and Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Ogun State Chapter, Mr. Noah Sewakanu commended the Commissioner for his resilience and passion to revamping the entire education sector particularly  the ECCDE, assuring of their continuous support towards achieving the set objective.
