Rivers United Battling Tornadoes To Topple Remo Stars In NPFL As El-kanemi Extend Unbeaten Run, Beat Enyimba 1-0




Second placed Rivers United of Port Harcourt with  17 points will be battling home side, Niger Tornadoes of Minna to regain their top position at the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL 

Ogun State based, Remo Stars of Ikenne-Remo are currently topping the Nigeria 's top flight league with 18 points after their lone-goal win on Sunday in a week-eight match against visiting Bendel Insurance of Benin-city who are occupying 14th position with nine points 

The Finidi George tutored Rivers United  will be seeking  to extend their unbeaten run in the league against Tornadoes currently in the 11th position with 10 points 

A win or draw in the match, will see the pride of Rivers regaining their lead on the table, given their better goals difference advantage over the Skye Blue stars 

Meanwhile El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri sustained their unbeaten run in the league, after securing maximum three points against visiting Enyimba International of Aba whom they beat by a lone-goal, to move to the fifth position with 11 points while the Aba Elephants remain at the third position with 14 points 

Sunshine Stars of Akure are currently placed fourth on the table with 13 points, after a similar goal margin win at their adopted Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode  against Nasarawa United of Lafia who are occupying 13th position with nine points 

Seventh placed Kano Pillars with 11 points survived early second half scare from the visiting Kwara United of Ilorin, after returnee and former Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa cancelled out the visitors' lead in the 56th minute of the match to ensure a one-all draw at home, leaving the Afonja Warriors at 12th position with nine points 

Visiting Plateau United of Jos are still better placed on eight position with 11 points despite their humiliation in the hands of home side Abia Warriors who whipped them 3-1 on Sunday to move to ninth position with the same number of points 

Yenegoa based, Bayelsa United are occupying 15th position with nine points, after their lone-goal win against relegation threatened Heartland of Owerri currently in the 17th position with just six points under the tutelage of former Super Eagles star, Emmanuel Amuneke 

Other matches slated for this Monday, bottom placed , debutants Ikorodu City will take on visiting Lobi Stars of Markurdi in Lagos in a battle to survive relegation 

Shooting Stars of Ibadan will be at home to Katsina United while another relegation threatened Akwa United of Uyo will be hosting defending champions, Enugu Rangers at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo
