"Our Father, Ayinla Omowura Was Killed By Manager, Bayewumi" - Eldest Child , Says He Never Struck Himself On Chest With Protective Ring

Children of the late Nigeria's Apala Music icon, Ayinla Omowura have described as a complete falsehood, the new narrative about the death of their father that he struck himself on his chest with a protective ring, according to a four year - old  research findings of a  broadcaster, Kolawole Adejojo, popularly known as "Kasnaty" , as published in an online media not Edu-Biznews 

The broadcaster had in the online story published less than a week ago, claimed in his research work that the youngest child, Kabiru revealed crucial information leading to the contact of a 80 year-old, herbalist and spiritualist, Pa  Ilelabewe Adisa who claimed to have prepared a protective charm in form of a ring for the late legendary Ayinla Omowura whom according to the research findings, used the ring on himself during an altercation with a friend who poured a drink on him and in a fit of anger, Omowura struck himself on the chest with the ring which led  to his untimely death in 1980,  44 years ago

But the eldest child of Ayinla Omowura, Madam Kuburat Ayinke addressing newsmen on Thursday at a press conference on behalf of the children held at the family house in Itoko area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, gave a true account of the death, saying her father was killed by his erstwhile Manager, Bayewumi at Ita-Ika area during alterations 

The eldest child who said she visited her father on the fateful day, (May 5, 1980),  narrated how Ayinla Omowura quickly left home , acting on the tips-off on the where about of the former manager whom he had been searching for to retrieve a motorcycle bought for him before leaving the musical band 

According to her, the music icon was hit on the forehead with a glass jug by Bayewumi who was trying to escape from being arrested by the police at the scene of the incident as ordered by Ayinla Omowura 

Madam Kuburat explained that Ayinla Omowura was quickly rushed to the Akin Olugbade Hospital where the hospital later referred him to the State Hospital In Ijaiye, Abeokuta where he eventually died as result of internal bleeding based on the report of autopsy carried out on his body by Medical team led by the then Chief Medical Consultant,Dr. Majekodunmi,  contrary to the claim in the research that his death was caused by the protective ring prepared for him by Ilelabewe to protect him from being harassed during live music performances 

She clarified that the youngest child,  Kabiru who took the researcher to the herbalist, Ilelabewe was just two months old in the womb of his mother who was pregnant, wondering how someone who was not born as at the time of the death of Ayinla Omowura would be giving such an account or led some one else to a herbalist or spiritualist (Ilelabewe) who is not known to the family to have spread such a falsehood about the death of her father 

"My father, Ayinla Omowura was not a diabolical person, never used such a protective ring during his lifetime, you will never see such on him, he was an open-hearted man, who related freely with people around him"

"Kabiru  and his co-traveller want to destroy the long standing image our father worked very hard for, we will not allow any one to destroy the good legacy and image our father strived hard to earn "

Madam Kuburat who recalled her role in ensuring that the controversial pregnancy of Kabiru 's mother was reluctantly accepted by the family, likened his conduct to that of bastard who just grew up in the family 

Similarly, Oladimeji who is a closest  son and Pastor Mathew Ademuyiwa , a son of elder sister to Ayinla Omowura in their separate remarks at the press conference, insisted that the late music icon was never a diabolical person, never used such protective ring, saying Ilelabewe was never known in the family 

Oladimeji, a retired School Principal, maintained that nothing was hidden about his father movement during his lifetime 

He also collaborated the narrative put up by the elder sister, saying he was presence at the scene of incident when Bayewumi smashed the glass jug on the forehead of Ayinla Omowura during alterations and he later slumped before he was rushed to hospital where he later died 

Oladimeji who condemned the research findings for misleading the general public, urged the researcher to visit the State Hospital In Ijaiye Abeokuta and Ogun State Ministry of Justice, where the medical report on the cause of the death could be found for references purposes 

According to him, Bayewumi was charged to court by the Ogun State Government through the State Counsel, Olopade and the then presiding judge, Justice Kolawole sentenced him to death in his judgement delivered in 1984 after being convicted for murder 

He questioned the authenticity of the account given by the herbalist ( Ilelabewe) in the research story published with the title "How I Discovered The Real Death Of Ayinla Omowura" saying he was never present at the scene of the incident for him to jump into the conclusion that the Apala Music icon used protective ring to strike himself to death 

"We were always aware of the movement of our father, we don't know him, (Ilelabewe) he was never at the scene of the incident, how did he know that Ayinla Omowura struck himself to death, where did he place the ring in his body to have done so ", he asked rhetorically 

Other children of Ayinla Omowura at the briefing included Alhaja Moriamo (daughter) Haruna , Samson, and Yusuff who are sons and Olusegun Johnson Soderu, a retired Detective Officer who is a cousin's son 

Edu-Biznews later discovered in the DailyTimes edition of May, 8, 1980 , that the legendary Ayinla Omowura was about to be presented with a brand new 505 Peaugeot car by EMI Record Label and in the process of building a befitting house for him at Asero area of Abeokuta before his untimely death
