Nigeria At 64: Ireede-Oginni Grassroots Foundation Tasks President Tinubu To Do More On Food Security



A Non-Governmental Organization, Ireede-Oginni Grassroots Foundation has tasked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to do more in his administration's ongoing fight against bandits and insurgents in the Northern part of Nigeria, so as to ensure a more secured region for small- holder farmers to farm and produce massive food for the country 

Founder of the foundation, Chief (Hon) Funmilayo Ireede-Oginni who made the call in a statement while reacting to the 64th Independence Day broadcast of President Tinubu on Tuesday, commended the administration for the war against banditry and insurgency in the North 

She said intensifying more efforts would reduce drastically criminal activities of the bandits and insurgents and encourage more farmers to increase food production, saying the increasing prices of food stuff in the market, is making it more difficult for Nigerian families to feed themselves

"The foundation appreciates the efforts made so far by the Mr. President to support farmers and address food inflation in the country but government at other levels must compliment the effort by constructiing access roads in rural areas to ease movement of farm products to markets and bring down the cost to make more affordable for the people 

Ireede-Oginni pleaded with various State Governments to invest more in mechanized farming as directed by President Tinubu in his broadcast to the nation, so as to further address food inflation and make it more available for local consumption and export

She also appealed to President Tinubu to do more to reduce cost of transportation fares by making more high capacity busses available across the country under the Compressed Natural Gas CNG initiative, adding people are spending huge amount on transportation to their various destinations 

Ireede-Oginni who is the Co-owner of Future Promise Group of Schools Abeokuta, assured the less priviledged teenagers, youths and women of the committment of her foundation to sustenance of scholarship for intelligent children who need support to further their education and women need to financial assistance to support their small businesses
