NELFUND: MAPOLY Rector Renews Call On More Students To Register For Loan, Says Only 26 Are Enjoying From It




Rector of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic MAPOLY in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Dr Adeoye Odedeji has renewed his call on students of the institution, particularly those in National Diploma ND 1 and Higher National Diploma HND 1 classes, to take advantage of loan facility being provided by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund NELFUND

The Rector who expressed concern that only 26 students from the institution whose tuition fees had been fully paid, are currently benefiting from fund , renewed the call on Thursday during matriculation of new students for the 2023/2024 academic session, saying processing such non-interest loan facility will lessen the burden of payment of school fees on their parents 

Dr. Odedeji stated that he had been given assurance by the management of NELFUND to give attention to qualified students from the institution, asking those who have not started the process for the student loan to visit nelf.gov.ng or the Directorate of Students Affairs of the polytechnic to begin the process

He added that the newly matriculated students would have dual certification on completion of either National Diploma or Higher National Diploma programmes from the institution, saying all the ND 2 and HND 2 students from next academic session must under go compulsory vocational skills training in any of the three trades including Plumbing, Electrical Installation and GSM Repairs under the National Skills Qualification Frameworks as approved by the National Board for Technical Education NBTE, in addition to their respective academic programmes 







In addition, I wish you to inform you that a Career Service Centre staffed with qualified Guidance and Counselors ,has been established  to provide advisory services to all students on choice of career and development "

" Our mandate is to raise modern workforce that is skilled, leveraging on technology, noting that a nation can only progress when its technology and vocational education are seen as core to the development "

"I want to urge you all to key into the NSQF for fourth industrial revolution and I can assure you that no students would graduate from the Polytechnic without undergoing mandatory skilled qualification programme in any of the trades or occupation. This is will be in addition to digital competency training to be certificated by two global computer education Institute CISCO and Huawei Technologies ", he assured the freshers

The Rector revealed that more than 300 students had been trained under Skills Development for Youth Employment initiative in collaboration with several international agencies such as German International Development Cooperation (GIZ) while both staff and students have access to seamless access to training with the sophisticated facilities initiated by the Chinese Government through Guangdong Free-Trade zone, Igbesa as well as resources support from the Pennsylvania University from the United States of America 








He cautioned the fresh students after the administration of oath taking, against any of the anti-social behaviours such as examination misconduct, indecent dressings, secret associations , urging them to be disciplined and focused on attainment of academic excellence 

Also speaking, the Director of Students Affairs, Dr. Amos Kolawole assured the fresh students of readiness of the Directorate to give the needed support while urging them to always be good ambassador of the institution by staying away from activities capable of destrupting their academic pursuit 










The Rector accompanied by other principal officers of MAPOLY later formally commissioned the Career Service Centre located within the Centre For Skills Development Programmes building on the campus
