Kwara Utd End Remo Stars Winning Streak As Rivers Utd Beat Akwa Utd 2-1, Move To Summit Of NPFL




Shola 's 56th minute lone strike on Sunday for home side, Kwara United of Ilorin ended the winning streak of Remo Stars of Ikenne-Remo in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) week five encounter 

Remo Stars are now dropped from the top position to the third with 12 points while Kwara United of Ilorin now moved to the 13th position with five points after securing its first win and three maximum points of the season

Before the defeat in Ilorin, the Ogun State based Skye Blue stars recorded four consecutive wins in the previous matches at home and away against Abia Warriors, Sunshine Stars, Kano Pillars and Enugu Rangers

Rivers United of Port Harcourt are now at the summit of Nigeria's top flight league with 13 points, after their hard earned 2-1 win  against visiting Akwa United of Uyo who are occupying 19th position with just two points 

Enyimba International of Aba are still placed second with 12 points, despite the non-conclusion of its match against visiting Katsina United currently placed at ninth position with seven points 

The Aba Elephants were leading by three-nil as at the time the match was put on suspension with less than ten minutes to the end of the encounter 

Defending champions, Enugu Rangers are in the fourth position with 10 points, after managing a slim lone-goal win against the hard-fighting Abia Warriors who are currently in the 14th position with five points 

Plateau United of Jos are placed fifth with eight points after their similar one-nil win against the bottom placed  Ikorodu City of Lagos with just a point 

Visiting Niger Tornadoes of Minna are in the sixth position with eight points after their 0-2 loss to Heartland of Owerri who moved up to the 16th position with four points after recording their first win of the season in the league under Coach Emmanuel Amuneke, Nigeria's Eaglets former tactician 

A brace from Super Eagles' former captain, Ahmed Musa secured the three maximum points for the seventh placed Kano Pillars with seven points against Sunshine Stars of Akure who are closely in the next position with the same points 

Tenth placed El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri with six points shared available points with 12th placed home side, Bendel Insurance of Benin with the same points after both sides ended in one -all draw on Saturday 

Also the 11th placed Nasarawa United of Lafia with six points and visiting 18th placed Bayelsa United of Yenogoa with just three points ended their encounter in a barren draw while Lobi Stars of Makurdi currently occupying 17th position after their lone-goal win against visiting Shooting Stars of Ibadan who are placed 15th with five points
