Ireede -Oginni Foundation has called on the Ogun State Government to urgently intervene and resolve the land boundary dispute between farmers and men of Nigerian Army who are accused of encroaching on 1,000 hectares of farmland in Ajilete-Yewa in Yewa South Local Government Area of the State
The indigenes of the area including farmers had on Thursday staged a peaceful protest, accusing men of Nigerian Army of asking them to pay annual sum of N10,000 per acre of land before they can farm on the farmland which they resisted ,claiming they can't pay be paying on farmland that belongs to their forefathers for several years
But Yeye-Aje of Ajilete-Yewa and founder of the foundation, Chief (Hon.) Funmilayo Ireede -Oginni expressing concern over the ugly situation which has disrupted farming activities in the area, pleaded with Governor Dapo Abiodun to reach out to the Nigerian Army headquarters and find ways of resolving the crisis amicably between farmers and the military
She commended the effort of the Alale of Ajilete-Yewa, Oba Kazeem Aderibigbe Amosu who had earlier met with top officers of the Nigerian Army to resolve land boundary dispute with farmers who also complained of herders who usually bring their cow to graze on the farmland and destroy some of the crops planted
Ireede -Oginni who is also co-founder of Future Promise Group of Schools, Abeokuta, equally urged government to look into the complaint of farmers and enforce the State Anti-Open Grazing law by ensuring herders don't encroach on farmland and destroy crops
She stressed the need for peaceful co-existence between farmers and men of the Nigerian Army in the area, so as to further boost food production in the state
In another development, Ireede-Oginni Foundation has felicitated the 2023 governorship candidate of Africa Democratic Congress ADC, Mr. Olubiyi Oladipupo Otegbeye on his birthday.
Founder of the foundation, Chief (Hon). Funmilayo Ireede-Oginni in her congratulatory , extended the organization's heartfelt greetings to a dedicated and outstanding leader.
