Team Ogun Contingent numbering over 300 including athletes and officials will be storming Asaba this Tuesday, the Delta State capital for the 2024 National Youth Games
Acting Director of Sports at the Ogun State Sports Council Mrs.Alade Oluwatoyin who made this known in a statement made available by Spokesperson of the council, Bola Giwa, said that the team would be competing and showcasing their skills and talents in 28 sports including Boxing, Cricket, Cycling, Darts, Gymnastics, Handball, Swimming ,Rugby, Scrabble, Shooting, Squash, Tennis, Abula, Badminton, Para Table Tennis, Table Tennis and Athletics
Others according to her, are Deaf Athletics, Para Athletics, Chess, Ayo,Judo, Karate, Wrestling, Kickboxing and Kung-Fu
The State Commissioner of Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka while addressing the athletes before their departure from Abeokuta, expressed confidence that the team would do well well at the sporting event, considering the level of their preparation
"With rigorous preparation and a strong team spirit, Team Ogun is poised to make a significant impact at the Games and return home with a impressive haul of medals".
"We are confident that Team Ogun will make the state proud and showcase the talent and dedication of our young athletes," the commissioner stated
The National Youth Games, Nigeria's premier sporting event for young athletes, provides a platform for Team Ogun to compete against their peers, develop their talents, and make their mark on the national stage.
