Ogun Govt Joins Celebration Of 2024 World Tourism Day




Ogun State Government has concluding arrangement to  join the rest of the world in  celebrating the 47th edition of the World Tourism day this Friday, 27 September, 2024 

Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Dr. Yusuff Quudus who made this known in a statement made available to Edu-Biznews on Thursday,  says the 2024 edition of the celebration with the theme, "Tourism and Peace", will be held at the Hubert Ogunde Hall of the June 12 Cultural Center, Kuto, Abeokuta from 10.00.am.

He added in the statement that Governor, Dapo Abiodun is expected to be the Chief Host, while the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele will be the Chief Guest of Honour.

"The theme of the celebration is apt as the pursue of peace is a continuous endeavour through tourism which is more relevant than ever, as tourism can play a vital role as a catalyst for fostering peace and understanding between nations and cultures and supporting reconciliation processes.", he stated 

 According to the statement, the United   Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) sets aside the September 27 annually to celebrate tourism, in order to foster awareness of tourism's social, cultural, political and economic values, noting that the sector would help in achieving the sustainable development goals.

Other activities lined up for the day to include, lecture sessions, exhibitions, cultural dance and performances from different cultural troupes across the state, among others.

However, all stakeholders and general public are enjoined to attend the occasion, as the celebration will feature professionals in the tourism industry.
