Ogun State Government has organised a consultative meeting with relevant Ministries, Department and Agencies of government, to ensure that the proposed Dangote Factory in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state meets all necessary environmental and regulatory specifications, while protecting the interest of host communities.
The State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Town Planner Olatunji Odunlami, during the meeting held at the Conference Room of the Ministry in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, explained that the parley was convened to offer guidance to Dangote Industries through all processes of obtaining permits to operate, thereby providing an enabling environment for investments to thrive, while improving the socio-economic status of the area and the state at large.
“A lot of the activities of other agencies are embedded in planning, especially when it relates to the use of land. It is thus important to get everybody on board, so that if there are any issues specific to their functions, they can bring them to the consideration of the investors.
‘’The checklist provided to the investor company covered issues such as land, certifications and licenses, environmental impact assessments, corporate social responsibility to host community and so on’’, he said.
Responding, Assistant General Manager, Mechanical, Dangote Industries, Engr. Francis Obiakhor, appreciated the Commissioner for the meeting, saying issues that would have constituted bottlenecks for them were swiftly addressed, to help the company achieve its goals.
Others in attendance include, representatives from the Bureau of Land and Survey, Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA), Ministries of Environment, Industry, Trade and Investment; Education, Science and Technology.
