Ogun FOMWAN Constructs Ablution Section For Muslim Pry School, Mokola, Abeokuta, Donates Sewing Machine To Correctional Centre, Host 33rd South West Annual Youth Camp In Sagamu

 


Ogun State branch of Federation of Muslim Women's Association in Nigeria FOMWAN has constructed a befitting Ablution section with borehole facility to ensure regular supply of water at the community mosque of Muslim Primary School, Mokola in Abeokuta, the State capital 

The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Adijat Adeleye commissioning the project at the school's mosque, lauded the initiative of FOMWAN for complimenting government's effort at providing infrastructure in schools and communities 






The Commissioner who was represented by the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in the ministry, Mr.Lateef Adekunle Busari , assured the association of government's readiness to always support such effort, urging other Non-Governmental faith based organization to emulate FOMWAN, saying government alone can't provide infrastructure at every community 


Head Teacher of the school, Mrs Adebisi Ekundayo was full of appreciation to FOMWAN for the project, saying it has put an end to the perennial problem of sourcing for water in the school 


She equally noted the contributions of individuals to the development of the school, including Alhaja Muibat Olasode, Alhaji Abdulkabir Gbemisola and the Alamutu family 

The State Amirah of FOMWAN, Alhaja Zainab Iyabode Jinadu said that the N500,000 worth of project for the school in Abeokuta North Local Government Area, was just one of the numerous projects executed in schools within the state 




She commended the effort of every member of the association in the chapters across the 20 Local Government Areas in the state for achievements recorded so far by the association 

Similarly, former Amirah, Alhaja Ishola expressed the commitment of FOMWAN to welfare of women and children, particularly in the education sector through provision of infrastructure, teaching aides and learning materials for pupils 

She noted that a block of three toilet facilities was constructed recently at the Moshood Abiola Primary School in Adatan area of Abeokuta South Local Government Area 




"We've been supporting women through various empowerment initiatives while supporting the needs of less priviledged school children", she stated 

Also a sewing machine was donated by the association to the authority of Correctional centre at Adigbe area of Abeokuta 





Earlier the State branch of the  Federation of Muslim Women's Associations in Nigeria, hosted the 33rd edition of the Annual National Youths Camp for South -West Zone between Wednesday 14th and Sunday 18th August, 2024 

The event held at Remo Divisional high school in Sagamu attracted delegates from seven states including host Ogun State,  ,Ekiti ,Lagos,Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Kwara 

The formal  opening of the event was equally graced by dignitaries among whom were the National Amirah of FOMWAN, Alhaja Rafiat Sanni alongside Alhaja Folasade Adesina who represented the First Lady andv wife of the Ogun State  Governor , Dr. Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, as the Chief Hostess of the day

The Grand Khalif of Remo Land, Chief Imam  Alhaji Junaid was the Spiritual father of the day and the Chief Host of the day, the Royal father of the day was Oba Musiliu Shoile, the Radanuwa Idado of Shagamu, Remo; Alhaj Abdul Rahman Omotayo Omoowo, the Patron of FOMWAN Ogun State and the Chairman of the Occasion














Also the permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Education Science and Technology,  Alhaja Oloko Mariam was ably represented by Alhaja  S.M. Agunbiade, Alhaja Olaoye, National Zonal Coordinator South -West

Guest Speaker of the event, Dr.Abdul Semiu  Bello Musa was represented by 
Alhaji Kolawole Yakub, from Olabisi Onabanjo University Ogun State, the hosting State FOMWAN Amirah, Alhaja Zainab Iyabode Jinadu amongst other dignitaries

Over Three hundred and twenty people both male and female  were present at the gathering.

The Guest Lecturer who  presented his paper on the theme:"QUR'AN AS A COMPASS",  drew the attention of the youths towards the importance of serving Allah and the need to adhere strictly to His guidance by taking His divine words which is the Glorious Qur'an as compass that helped man to navigate successfully in this ill plaguing economy/society.


Other papers presented were:--Building peaceful communities where the lecturer emphasized on the act of maintaining a corruption free society, avoidance of injustice, upholding cooperation and Collaboration among individuals in the society.

Highlight of other activities at the event included holding of Functioning Education for youth,  Health talk on hand wash and Cholera, Vocational and Entrepreneur training on the making of flowers and decorations as well as Excursion to NESTLE FOODS industry at interchange in Sagamu and Visitation to the palace of   the Akarigbo of Remo Land, the palace of the Radanuwa Idado of Shagamu.
