FUNAAB Mourns Miss Christianah Idowu, Calls For Justice


 


Management of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has  called on the police to ensure justice in the killing of one of its female students, Miss Christianah Idowu, a 300-Level student of Pure and Applied Botany at the College of Biosciences (COLBIOS), as the university commiserated with the family, friends, and the entire student body on the tragic loss 

Acting Head, Directorate of Public Relations of the university, Olasunkanmi Olajide in a statement made available to Edu-Biznews on Friday, said the management received the news of abduction of the student and senseless murder with deep pain 

Christianah Idowu was allegedly murdered by one , Ayomide Adeleye, a 200 level student of the Olabisi Onabanjo University 

" The news of her abduction in Lagos and senseless murder has left us all heartbroken, and the entire FUNAAB community mourns her painful passing"

The University Management according to the statement, stands in solidarity with her family, friends, and all who were touched by her life.

He added in the statement that high power delegation led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi and the Student Union President, Comrade Ibraheem Adeyemi had visited the family on Friday to demonstrate to the university's unwavering support for the family 

"To demonstrate our unwavering support, a delegation led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi and the Student Union President, Comrade Ibraheem Adeyemi, visited the family today, September 6, 2024, met the bereaved mother and extended the University's heartfelt condolences and offered comfort during this most difficult time"

We now call upon the Nigeria Police Force to expedite their investigation and ensure that justice is not delayed. This act of violence must not go unanswered. As we grieve, we pray that God grants her family and loved ones the strength to bear this huge loss.

"We also offer our support to the entire FUNAAB community, urging everyone to stay strong and united in the face of this tragedy"

"Once again, our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Miss Christianah Idowu, and we remain committed to seeing that justice is served for this grievous wrong", the statement concluded
