11th FASU All Africa University Games Begin As Universities Storm LASU, UNILAG To Compete, Excel

Universities from different parts of Africa have started arriving Nigeria in readiness for  the 11th  All Africa University (FASU) Games holding at both Lagos State University Ojo and University of Lagos, Akoka in the nation's commercial city

With one city, two hosting institutions and about 16 Games to compete in, definitely sports loving enthusiasts, pundits, analysts, commentators, scouts and others will focus their attention on the sporting spectacle, from Friday, 20th to Sunday, 29th September, 2024

The opening ceremony is slated to be held at the University of Lagos  (UNILAG), Akoka, Lagos this Saturday, 21st September, 2024.

The ceremony will be kicking off by 3.00 p.m. at the institution's Sports Centre

Already, Lagos State University (LASU), one of the two hosts, has put everything in place for a successful hosting of the games.

Centre For Information and Public Relations (CIPR) Sports can authoritatively report that the University invested in human resources and infrastructure to  ensure a seamless 10-day event,  with the renovation and upgrade of its Sports and Recreation Centre on the main campus, Ojo, Lagos, which now wears a new look.

The Football Pavilion has a new sitting arrangement and complemented with Video Assistant Referee (VAR) equipment, arguably one of the very first in Nigeria.
The indoor sports hall, as well as the basketball, volleyball, handball, and lawn tennis courts, have been overhauled. The entrance to the Sports Centre has equally been graded.

As the games get underway, it is obvious the competition will  produce the next set of African athletes that will take the world by storm. Also, records will be broken and new ones set.

Just like its slogan - *Unite, Compete, Excel*- one can only hope the games will live up to the billing of a World class event, where talents would be discovered and champions made.

The FASU Games is largely supported by the Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Lagos State Governor and Visitor to LASU, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

The closing ceremony will be held on Sunday, 29th September, 2024 at the Lagos State University (LASU) Sports and Recreation Centre, main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.
