Chairman, Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi has lauded a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), "Teach For Nigeria" (TFN), for adding value to Nigerian learners and transforming the education sector.
Dr. Majekodunmi gave the commendation during the 2024 fellowship cohort graduation ceremony organised by TFN in Lagos State for 268 fellows and 77 school leaders, who had completed two years of service in schools across Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo States
According to him, the organization's selflessness, resilience and dedication had addressed gaps in schools.
Majekodunmi, represented by the Director of Quality Assurance in the Board, Mr. Olusegun Alade, noted that the partnership between Ogun State government and TFN was aimed at training graduates and teachers, to serve in public schools and low-income private schools
He expressed delight that 210 out of the fellows and 77 school leaders served in the state.
‘’Ogun State is already enjoying the benefits of the Teach for Nigeria Fellowship, as their trainees posted to some of our schools have impacted the lives of pupils and students. It is noteworthy to appreciate the invaluable and unwavering support of Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government in upholding the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) reached between the government and "Teach For Nigeria", which has been sustained since the inception of his administration", he said.
He urged the graduates not to relent in contributing immensely to the development of the education sector in the state, as the government would continue to support them.
Speaking on behalf of other graduands, Miss Adetomiwa Awofeso, appreciated TFN for the opportunity given to serve, saying the initiative had transformed their lives, promising to continue to promote TFN, as the experience garnered during the learning process would be useful.
