Ogun TESCOM Inducts 205 Principals, 373 Vice Principals




Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has inducted a new set of 205 principals and 373 vice principals, as managers and administrators of Public secondary schools in the state, to ensure a more effective running of the school

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu speaking during the 2-day induction ceremony, at the OGD Hall, Baptist Boys High school, Saje in Abeokuta, said diligence of all inductees over the years in the Civil Service earned them the new appointments.

Prof. Arigbabu, who described Principals and their vice as custodian of school administration, urged the inductees to deliver on the new mandate given to them and contribute their quota to the advancement of education in the state.

Also speaking, Chairman, TESCOM, Evang. Olalekan Ifede, said proper screening process was conducted by the commission for the inductees, noting that school management was central to discipline and academic excellence.

Ifede, who led the inductees on an Oath of Allegiance, warned that none of them should request a posting until after two years.

"Today, I congratulate all inductees, now sworn in as Principals and Vice Principals. I admonish you to do your job as expected and be good role models. The Commission will not entertain any posting request until after two years in your respective schools", he said.

Contributing, Permanent Secretary in the Commission, Mrs. Melutia Ogunremi, admonished the inductees to see the new office as a call for more work in their duty posts.

Earlier in his address, Full -Term Commissioner IV, TESCOM and Chairman Induction Committee, Hon. Ademola Adeleye, implored the newly inducted to be more diligent and committed to the administration of their respective schools.

In their separate remarks, Chairmen, Academic Staff Union of Secondary schools, Comrade Felix Agbesanwa, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Comrade, Sewakanu Noah, President, All Nigerian Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Comrade Edward Adeniji, urged union members to be resourceful and results-driven.

Highlight of the induction ceremony was a presentation of Letters of Commendation to six inductees, three each for the Principals and Vice Principals categories, with an advantage to choose their preferred school of choice.

Two of the inductees, Messers Adegboyega Semiu (Principal) and Amos Alani (Vice Principal) appreciated the present administration for the promotion, and improving the welfare of teachers, promising to be hardworking in their respective schools for the advancement of education sector in the state.

Other dignitaries in attendance were Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, Full -Term Commissioners I, II and III, Hon Adeola Akintande, Hon. Moruf Adesegun, and Hon. Olanrewaju Majekodunmi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, newly appointed Principals –General, among others.
