Ogun SWAN Assures Of Better Value Jet Security Cup As Customs Service Side Emerge New Champions




Ogun State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has assured security agencies of better edition of Value Jet Security Cup in the coming year as Nigeria Customs Service team emerged as new champions of the annual football competition after beating hard-fighting defending champions, Police Machines 6-5 via penalty shootout 

Both sides had ended the final played on Monday at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Kuto Abeokuta, the State capital in two-all after regulation time which extended the tie to a round of penalty kicks 

The Customs Service team converted four of the kicks to defeat the Police Machines who could only convert three as they lost the title to their closest rivals for the second time in the history of the competition, having lost to the same side in the second edition in 2022

The State Chairman of SWAN, Azeez Michael-Ogunsiji in his appreciation message after the competition, assured the stakeholders particularly security agencies who participated of better edition in future while commending the official title sponsor ' Value Jet Airline for bankrolling the tournament 

"On behalf of the SWAN Executives, and organizing committee of the ValueJet/SWAN Security Cup, we want to thank you all for the show of professionalism and your turnout at the finals today."

We thank you for making the fourth edition of the ValueJet/SWAN Security Cup a success.

We are aware that some of us are agitated about one thing or the other, but all we can do at this time is to apologize for any shortcomings while we promise you that the competition will continue to be better and more robust.  

May God spare our lives as we look forward to the next edition in 2025. 

Earlier in the third place match, former champions, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC side edged past stubborn debutants Economic and Financial Crimes Commission side by a lone-goal to win the consolatory cash prize of N200,000 behind runners up , the Police Machines with N300,000 and champions, Custom Service team with N500,000
