Ogun Govt Rewards Outstanding Learners With Cash Awards

Ogun State Government has rewarded  outstanding students at the public and private Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary school levels, who participated in various local and national competitions with cash prizes, so as to encourage more learners  to achieve excellence in curricular and extra-curricular activities in the state 

Those rewarded include Master Oluwadarasimi Okpala of Leadership of High Standard Nursery and Primary School, Ota who emerged as the Overall Best in the Primary School category

alongside Rofiquat Adebambo of Migration Montessori School, Irewon, Ijebu-Ode and Afolabi Yusuf of Amazing Grace Nursery and Primary School, Ago-Iwoye who finished as 1st and 2nd Runners up respectively in the category 

The Junior Secondary School category has Daniel Oji and Joshua Seth both from Ambassador College, Ota, as the Overall Best and 1st Runner up respectively while Oluwadarasimi Aina from Migration Model College, Irewon Ijebu-Ode, emerged as 2nd Runner up

 At the Senior Secondary School category, the students that succeeded in the State Finals of Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) Science Quiz Competition at Lisabi Grammar School, Abeokuta, were Richard Olutoberu of Abeokuta Grammar School, Idi-Aba, Inioluwa Olufunmilayo from Bosdem Model College, Idi-Ori, both in Abeokuta, and Paul Babayemi from Crescent International, College, Ota.

Others are Emmanuel Omoegbeleghan and Oluwatobiloba Adejumo from Crescent International College and Ambassador College, both in Ota, who emerged Second Runners-up in the 2023 Nigerian Institute of Physics National Quiz Competition in Lagos. Faith Atigah from Adedokun International School, Ota, emerged as Second Overall Best in the 8th Edition of 2024   774 Young Scientists Presidential Award (YONSPA) competition held in Abuja.

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, while presenting the cash awards to students in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, expressed satisfaction for making the state proud, promising that the government would continue to formulate policies for the development of the state’s education sector.

Arigbabu commended the efforts of the students, management and teaching staff of both public and private participating schools, as well as the Local Oganising Committee for preparing the learners for various competitions, urging them not to rest on their oars, but to continue to keep the flag flying.

Also speaking, Director of Education, Department of Science and Technology in the ministry, Mrs. Abosede Edun stated that learners in both public and private schools across the state had been doing well in different states and national competitions.

 In his remark, State Chairman, STAN, Dr. Yomi Onanuga and the Principal Adedokun International School, Ota, Dr. Mike Adedokun, who responded on behalf of the students, appreciated the state government for the gesture, restating the support of private schools to the transformation agenda of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration for the greatness of learners in the state.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Arigbabu has enjoined students to shun any form of violence and social vices that could prevent them from their aspirations.

The Commissioner made this known, while playing host to the Executive Members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), assuring that the present administration would continue to ensure adequate provision of welfare packages for students.

 Earlier, Clerk of the Senate, NANS, Abdulyekinn Odunayo commended the government for its commitment to students’ plights and proper coordination of the Education Cash Award for Students Help (EduCASH), palliative to indigene students in all tertiary institutions across the country.
