Ogun Govt Charges Private School Owners To Embrace Technology For Sustainable Development

Ogun State Government has charged private school owners in the State to embrace the technological innovation policy of the present administration, towards building a resilient educational system.

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, gave the charge in Abeokuta, during 2024 Education Summit, organised by the Grand Union of Private Schools Association (GUPSA) tagged, "Building Resilient Education Systems: Strategies for Sustainable Growth and Development

"Knowledge in Information and Communication Technology will make it easier to achieve your policies and make you more relevant in this modern age”, he stated 

Prof. Arigbabu noted that education could be said to have taken place, if the expected changes in its beneficiaries were palpable, noting that the goal of education is not exclusive to the acquisition of knowledge or certificates, but the training of the mind and ability to apply the knowledge gained to contribute meaningfully to the society.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry , Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, added that Governor Dapo Abiodun, since the inception of his administration, was passionate about quality education and prompt service delivery for learners’ development.

"To build a resilient education system in Nigeria, we must adopt strategies that prioritise inclusivity, equity and quality.

“Not every student will pursue higher education. We must provide alternative pathways for skill acquisition and entrepreneurship right from the beginning", he said.

In her presentation, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Science and Technology, who was also one of the facilitators at the event, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, highlighted key parameters to achieve sustainable growth including, adequate budgeting, technology, procurement of modern facilities for quality teaching and learning, employment of qualified and professional teachers as well as safety tips.

In his remarks, Grand Chairman of the Union, Alhaji Ustadth Ajibola Abdulazeez, appreciated government for implementing policies that would make private schools to thrive, pledging unalloyed support towards the improvement of the education sector and other segments of governance.
