Ogun State Government has approved the reconstruction of the dilapidated 8.17 kilometres Magboro-Makogi Road in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, so as to enhance commercial and farming activities in the area

Governor Dapo Abiodun who made the announcement on Monday at the flag-off of the 2024 Rice Harvesting Season in Igboko village, said the approval would also cover the Magboro underbridge.

The governor said reconstructing the road would open up the area to more development, even as he disclosed that the state government intends to provide about 2,000 hectares for rice cultivation in the region.

"I am glad that today, I had the opportunity to drive on this road myself. I have seen the condition of the road; but beyond the condition, I have seen how densely populated this area is. I also appreciate the impact this road will have on our farmland", he stated

"So today, I know that I am a promise-keeping governor. I only talk and do; I don't talk without doing. I am going to immediately award the contract for the reconstruction of this road, " Abiodun assured

It’s been five months since the governor promised to reconstruct this road, yet there’s no sign of work starting. The road remains in terrible condition, making life harder for residents and farmers alike. We appeal to His Excellency to honor his promise and begin the project urgently, as this road is vital to our community’s development.
