Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), has conclusion arrangement for holding of stakeholders meeting this week Thursday, August 8
at the Cinema Hall of June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto,Abeokuta on Thursday, August 8, 2024, preparatory to the conduct of the November 16 Local Government election in the state
Chairman of the State Electoral Agency, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu announced the date in a statement while officially unveiling the Timetable for the 2024 Elections for positions of Chairmanship in the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Councillorship in the 236 wards in the state.
Osibodu added that the stakeholders’ meeting would also be used to unveil the Election Guidelines to the political parties and general public
He enjoined relevant stakeholders, including all political parties, the general public. as well as media to be seated by 9.30am ahead of the 10.00am commencement time for the event 10:00am
He explained that the conduct of the elections was in accordance with section 10(1) of the Ogun State Electoral Law, 2007.
He added that the 2024 LG Elections was scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024, between 8:00am and 2:00pm, while all prospective candidates must obtain nomination forms from OGSIEC Headquarters at Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, not later than Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Completed forms are to be submitted by Friday, November 1, 2024, as names of successful candidates who qualify to contest would be published by November 4, 2024.
