Governor Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday, praised the peace and tranquillity across the state, describing the conduct of the people of the state during the first day of the anti-hunger protest as commendable.
Prince Abiodun particularly commended the youths and students for shunning the protest, as only awful of protesters were seen at Panseke in the morning while none of the protesters was seen by Edu-Biznews as at 3:30pm at the one of designated venues in the state, located at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Kuto ,Abeokuta as ordered by the court on Wednesday,the eve of the commencement of the 10-day protest in the country
Inspite of presence of security operatives at strategic locations, commercial activities were at its lowest ebb in most of the major areas and streets visited , particularly at Kuto fly over, Iwe-Iroyin, Lalubu Street in Oke-Ilewo, which is the Central Business District of the city, as most of the shop owners did not open as at 4:30 pm including traders at popular Abeokuta Computer Village at Ibara Rounder-about who didn't displayed their goods to customers
It was same scene at the ever busy Panseke Motor as travellers and street hawkers were not seen at the park, most shops remained shut at Tinubu Road In Ita-Eko-Sokori area as well as Sapon Market and Adatan area of the State capital
Some of the banks were not operating for normal business transactions during visit to most of the areas between 2:00 pm and 3:00pm
Some of the traders and commercial motorcycle operators at Kuto under the flyover complained of low patronage, as most residents decided to stay at home
Only few vehicles were seen plying the major roads along Abiola way , Leme, Ijaiye ,Oke-Ilewo, Totoro and Asero areas of Abeokuta
Governor Abiodun in his reaction to the situation on the first day of the protest , said in a statement that there was no protest in the state as they hearkened to the advice of the state government not to allow themselves to be used by frustrated politicians.

"I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation to our vibrant youths, dedicated students, and all the citizens of Ogun State for the exemplary manner in which you conducted yourselves by shunning the nationwide protests. This is a testament to your commitment to justice, unity, and the betterment of our society.
"I commend each and every one of you for your discipline and resolve in ensuring that our state remained peaceful. Your ability to stand firm in your convictions while maintaining order and respect is commendable. It is a reflection of the maturity and responsibility that our youth embody.
"I am particularly grateful that by your actions, you did not allow hoodlums or any elements to turn our state into a war zone. This shows not only your strength in numbers but also your strength of character. You have sent a powerful message that our voices can be heard without resorting to violence or destruction," he said.
