LASU Inter'l School Launches Historic Anthem At 2024 Valedictory Service,As VC Charges Graduands To Be Courageous




Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello has charged the graduands at the Lagos State University International School (LASUIS) to be courageous, curious and compassionate, as they step on the next ladder of their educational pursuits in higher institutions of learning 

The Special Guest of Honour and Vice Chancellor who was represented by Professor Morenike Adewolu was speaking during the year 2024 and sixth (6th) edition of the school's valedictory service and end of session party/prize giving day, held recently at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, LASU main campus, Ojo, Lago

The Vice-Chancellor addressing all the invited guests including parents/guardians, friends of the school, members of LASUIS Board, staff and students to the ceremony, commended the members of the International School's Board under the chairmanship of the professor of Psychology, Professor Ayodeji F. Badejo and the dedicated members of staff (Teaching and non - Teaching)


The  Professor of  physiology who described the event as  a monumental milestone in the graduands' academic journey, assuring the graduands of a positive future

She stressed that the academic caps and gowns on them symbolised the graduands' hard work, resilience and unwavering determination to succeed in their future endeavours. 

The Ninth (9th) substantive Vice Chancellor added that the ceremony was not just an end but a bold punctuation, marking the beginning of new chapters. She further said *"Dare to dream, strive to achieve, and more importantly, be prepared to give back to the society."* 

Professor Olatunji-Bello, commended the School on the initiative of having an institution anthem since 2016. She appreciated Mr Ayobami Daniel Eko, a music teacher at the school for composing the anthem.

The Vice Chancellor equally celebrated the parents and guardians for their dedicated sacrifices and commitment to the future of their wards. Her words, "Parents and guardians, your dedication and sacrifices are the unsung threads that have woven this beautiful tapestry of achievement. Today, you can bask in the glory of this proud moment, knowing that your guidance has borne fruit." she said.

Earlier, the Chairman, LASUIS Board, Professor Ayodeji F. Badejo and the Principal of the School, Mr Taiwo Odumbo, had both welcomed all the invited guests and stakeholders to the event.


The Chairman and Principal in their respective comments highly praised the University Management under the leadership of the pragmatic and second female Vice Chancellor of the University, professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, fnli, NPOM, FSPSP, for the unflinching support being enjoyed by the board and school management. They also thanked the distinguished guest speaker, invited guests, parents, and guardians for honouring the invitation.




Professor Badejo applauded the graduands on their results and performances at the just concluded West African Examination Council (WAEC). She thanked the Principal and members of staff for their dedication.

The guest speaker and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary Education, Lagos State, Mr Abdul Waheed Kasali talked on the topic *"Career Path, Development And Realities Of The Age : The Coping Mechanism"*

Highlights of the epoch-making ceremony included messages  by the PTA Chairman who was represented by Mrs Momoh Folashade, outgone Head-boy and Head-girl, presentation of photo-frames to the graduands, meritorious awards to deserving students and staff at the school and the official presentation of the new school prefects for the next academic session.

The Special Guest of Honour and Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Lagos State, Hon. Tolani Sule was represented by Mrs Seriki Ibukunolu Olayemi.


Board Members at the event included; Dr Oludare Olufowobi, Engr (Dr) Waliu Odukaiye and Secretary, Mrs Odeyemi

Members of the University Management at the event included : representatives of the Registrar, Bursar and University Librarian, Mr Samuel Otesanya, Mr Akanni Ademola and Barr Harriet Dapo-Asaju.












The event was spiced up by various stage performances, including dancing and other forms of display by the students of the school .
