Lagos State Government has expressed readiness to always engage promising partners including Yaba College of Technology who recently launched Technology Hub under its Girls Education and Skills Partnership (GESP) to empower, 5,250 young women with the required digital skills to navigate the ever challenging Information and Communication Technology ICT world
The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation,Hon.Bolaji Cecilia Dada who made the pledged on Thursday during the launch of the Tech-Hub centre for girls ICT skills development on the campus of the college, said that the State Government under her Ministry, established 19 skills acquisition centres across the five divisions of the State
These centres which provide range of ICT-related training courses such as computer literacy, web development, digital marketing, graphic design and software application proficiency according to her, in the past five years have graduated over 18,000 students including 500 women who acquired training in digital marketing and given Android Tablets to enhance their businesses
"The ministry aims to enhance the employability of women and vulnerable populations, enabling them to access better job opportunities and improve their economic situations"
"The initiative contributes to Lagos State broader vision of reducing poverty and empowering women, ultimately fostering economic growth and development within the community", she stated
The Commissioner commended YabaTech's management led by the Rector, Dr.(Engr) Adedotun Abdul for its dedication to education and commitment to nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.
"Your role in this initiative will be pivotal; together we will guide our young women on the path of greatness", she charged the college
She urged the students to seize the opportunity being provided by the Tech-Hub, with enthusiasm and determination
"Your education is your greatest asset, and the skills you acquire will serve you for a lifetime ", she advised
Also speaking, wife of the Governor, Dr(Mrs) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu lauded the management team of YabaTech for the implementation of the initiative
"Your dedication to youth empowerment through education is commendable and critical to building a brighter future for our girls.The emphasis on technical skills in addition to academic excellence by this citadel of learning is crucial in today’s world, where the focus on white-collar jobs often overshadows other vital career paths"
"As the First Lady of Lagos State, I want to reaffirm my commitment and the State Government's commitment to supporting programs that focus on the empowerment of girls and young women", she pledged

The First lady who was represented by Mrs Anike Adekanye, listed various human capital development initiatives implemented by her office including The BoybChild Initiative which trained and inculcated the right value in them to be a respected men and husbands in their
homes
Highpoint of the event was formal launching of the hub for the college in partnership with the United Nations Children Education Fund (UNICEF) and other foreign partners
