Ogun Baptist Conference has again appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State to return the mission school owned by the denomination to it.
The Conference President, Reverend (Dr) Oyewale Oyeniyi, who made the call at a News Confernece to herald the 47th edition of conference-in-session at First Baptist Church , Oke-Odan in Yewa North Local Government Area of the State, also pleaded Governor Abiodun to return all mission schools to their original owners who have been agitating for it since 2011, during the period of the immediate past administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun whose government reversed the policy of former governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel whose administration partially returned some of the mission schools with the aim of ensuring efficiency, high academic standard and upholding of discipline and moral values among learners
The Cleric asks Abiodun to emulate other Governors who had returned the mission schools to their owners.
Oyeniyi lists the Baptist mission schools belonging to the denomination in the state to include Baptist Boys High School, Saje and Baptist Girls College, Idi-aba, both in Abeokuta, the State Capital.
Others are Baptist High School, Ogbogbo in Ijebu Ode and Baptist High School, Ilaro in Yewa axis of the State.
According to him, the Baptist will take care of the schools more than what the government is currently doing for them.
“In the education sector, Ogun State has been known for taking the front seat by producing the first and the best through providing qualitative education and the present administration in the state has given priority to education in a bid to fight poverty, he said.
“In doing this, the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun (CON) has ensured that the provision and acquisition of education is free in both public primary and secondary schools in the State, which is also commendable”, the cleric added.
Oyeniyi, however, asked the state government to ensure prompt payment of all deductions from state workers’ salaries.
