Accord Party has accused the suspended National Executive Committee led by Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem of conducting illegal Congress in Ogun State on Saturday in Abeokuta, the state capital, less than 24 hours after being restrained by the Federal High High Court in Abuja from all activities of the party
Justice Adamu had on Friday, August 31, 2024, granted the order request of Prof.Christopher Imumolen led National Executive Committee for recognition as National Chairman of the party while ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) , Inspector General of Police and Director of State Security Service to stop recognizing Mgbudem led NEC and its agents as regards activities of the party until hearing and determination of the substantive suit before the court
But the Ogun State Chairman of Accord Party, Prince Wale Adebisi addressing newsmen on Saturday in Abeokuta, accused Mgbudem led NEC of conducting Congress at Laroy Suite Hall located in Abiola way area of the city at around 11 am in violation of the court order
He listed members of the Three-man Congress Committee who conducted the congress to include, Abdullazeez Salahudeen, Pastor Victor Akande and Elder Ibe Kenechukwu Thankgod
The State party Chairman claimed that those who participated in the illegal Congress had stopped being members in 2023 ,since their formal defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
On the next line of action for the party, he stated that the matter would be reported to Prof. Imumolen whose leadership of the party is recognized by the court order for appropriate action
The National Secretariat of the party in Abuja had been sealed on Saturday, following the court order
Others restrained by the court order to stop parading themselves as NEC members of the party include Maryam Saleh, Dr.Adebukola Abiola Ajaja, Abdulrahman Dan Ladi, Abdullazeez Salahudeen, Omorogbe Joseph Osa , Ibe Kenechukwu Thankgod , Mohamed Sanni, Awogbade Adeyemi Richel, Muhammadu G.Umar and Mrs Margaret Elaboh.
