Ogun Traditionalists Want President Tinubu To Declare August 20 As Isese Day For Nigerians To Showcase Cultural Heritage




Traditionalists in Abeokuta , the Ogun State capital are calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare August 20  as public holiday for  Isese Day in  Nigeria,  just as it currently being celebrated in most states in the South West region of the country 

Chairman Of  Traditionalists in Egbaland, Oloye Ifaniaki Ifasunday Amosun who made the call in an interview with newsmen ahead of this year's celebration of Isese Day In Ogun State, appealed to Governor Abiodun to meet with President Tinubu to discuss the possibility of declaring the date for all traditionalists in different ethnic groups to worship, celebrate and project cultural heritage and values  across the country 




The top traditionalist who was full of appreciation for Governor Abiodun for his administration declaration of every August 20 as public holiday for the Isese Day celebration, also acknowledged the support of the State Culture and Tourism Commissioner, Hon.Sesan Fagbayi whose ministry has promised to give the Oke-Abola Shrine in Oke Aregba area of Abeokuta, a major face-lifts in readiness for the celebration of the coming Isese Day 

Ifasunday Amosun noted the immeasurable role of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba (Dr) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo for  his royal blessings and ensuring that the Isese Day was given the needed recognition for traditional worshippers to protect and project their cultural heritage and values 

Preparation for this year's Isese Day according to him, is in top gear to ensure hitch-free celebration for all traditionalists to have smooth celebration 


He equally acknowledged the efforts made so far by Oloye Aregbesola Anipupo, Oluwo of Ogun State, Oloye ifagbeminiyi Atanda Baoku, ifa Tantala, Oluwo ifa of Egbaland, Oloye Onifade Amole Ogundele, Abere ifa, Ojubona of Egbaland, and the members of the 2024 Isese Day planning committee.


The Chairman of Traditionalists in Egbaland equally appreciated Oba Adebayo Olamilekan Moroof, Onitafin of Orile-itafin Egbaland who also gave their  full backing to the traditionalists after receiving the royal blessings.
