Ogun Muslim Council Asks Faithfuls To Shun Planned Hunger Protest Against Tinubu On August 1





Ogun.State Muslim Council has asked Muslim Faithfuls to shun the planned hunger protest, being organized by an unidentified group against the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration as from next month, August 1 till 10 over the current foods inflation in the country 

Chairman of Egba Zone of the State Muslim Council, Alhaj Abdulhakeem Tunji Kalejaye who made the call on Sunday during a quarterly meeting of the zone in Abeokuta, the State capital, urged them to always uphold the tenets of Islam as peace loving people, by shunning any form of public demonstration capable of threatening the National Security of the country 

The proposed August protest according to him, is aimed at causing unrest or uprising against the current administration , which will not add any value to the progress of the country 








He charged all Imams, coordinators and elites to inform all Muslim Youths in the Zone not to participate in the protest


There has been exchange of words between the presidency and the opposition party, particularly the Labour Party and its 2023 presidential candidate,Mr. Peter Obi and his supporters whom the government strongly believed are behind the proposed protest with various hashtags* Put An End To Bad Governance*, *Tinubu Must Go* amongst others on social media platforms


Also speaking,  Secretary General of the State Muslim Council, Alhaj Kamaldeen Akíntúndé stressed the need for the zone to strengthen the bond of brotherhood in Islam in various Local Government Areas within the Egba zone 

He added that the Local Government Financial Autonomy granted by the Federal Government as re-affirmed by the Supreme Court would go along way to bring to people at the grassroots unprecedented development in all facets of human endeavours, imploring all Muslim stakeholders at the level of Local Government to take up responsibility for the betterment of the nation.

"There is a need to continuously pray for the leadership of the Country, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR as he is making it worthy to cushion the effect of economic hardship. There are a lot of Socio Economic programmes targeted at masses for upkeeps of all and sundry", Akintunde stated 

The State Muslim Council's Scribe then urged stakeholders to always ensure justice and fairness in the distribution of any items in form of palliative to Muslims in the state
