Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has asked students to always shun all forms of social vices capable of destroying their future and embrace moral conduct, in order to attain academic excellence excellence in their studies
Governor Abiodun gave the advice during
Ijebu North Local Government / investiture ceremony for Commissioners IV of the State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Hon. Adeleye Joseph Ademola as NSCPC Colonel Ambassadoria Plenipotentiary/National Patron of the National School Crime Prevention Corps(NSCPC) to mark his birthday celebration held at Abusi Edumare Academy in Ijebu Igbo.
Abiodun who was represented by the StateCommissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Hon. Ademola Balogun said the responsibility of bringing up complete and responsible children lies with the parents and the guardians
He lauded the initiative adopted by the Commissioner who found it very important to educate the students against all social vices , rather than parting with members of his family,
Abiodun urged parents, teachers and guidance to guide against every social vices capable of destroying the lives of the students
Governor Abiodun described the. initiatives as lovely worthy of emulation
by who is who in Ogun State.
Also speaking, Chairman of the State Teaching service Commission (TESCOM), Evan. Olalekan Ifede said all hand must be on deck at rescuing the vulnerable students for leadership sustainability in the nearest future
He added that those children who were not well trained would at the end of the day be a thorn in our society.
Ifede stressed the need for students to always listen to their teachers and follow the rules and regulations of the school, urging parents to join hands with education stakeholders , particularly the teachers to discourage their children from engaging in social vices that would affect their lives negativity.
Similarly, the Commandant Ige Folayinka of the corps who took the students through some signs that can be use to lure them into cultism and other negative vices, said students should not be covetious
He identified love of money as a major factor that can be use to lure students in engaging in cyber crime such as yahoo yahoo, money rituals, kidnaping amongst others
The celebrant at the event who is the Commissioner IV of the teaching service commission in an interview with newsmen, described students as the future of tomorrow
We all have the responsibility as a teacher, guidance and major stakeholders in the education sector to let them know that engaging in cultism huligalism and all other social vises does no good, saying reason why he choose to enlightened the students on vices that could be a stumbling block on having a great and better future.
Adeleye explained that he decided to organize such public enlightenment programme to demonstrate his passion for the students, instead of throwing party with friends and family to mark his birthday
The celebrant added that the essence of organizing such re-orientaton for students is to disabuse their mind in joining bad gangs, taking substances that would make them high, joining cultism among others
He added that celebrating his birthday with packaging of such re-orientaton event, was to appreciate the society and give back to Ijebu North Local Government in celebration of his birthday.
Highlights of the events include, Investiture of the Commissioner/ commissioning NSCPC in Ijebu North, book launch, cultural display by the students, cutting of birthday cake with the present of high dignitaries such as
Former senator, Lekan Mustapha, former Senator , Adegbenga Kaka who was represented by Alhaji Segun Ademola, former Commissioner for health Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, represented by his wife and Oba Abdulrasheed Banjo among others.
