Members of the Abeokuta Golf Club (AGC) have elected and inaugurated their new Executive Committee to run the affairs of the for 2024.
The election conducted during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Club House, behind the Governor's Office, Oke 'Mosan, Abeokuta, produced Prof Kolawole Adebayo as the new captain of the club
Publicity/Socal Secretary of the club, Dolapo Jinad in a statement made available to Edu-Biznews on Monday, described the electoral process as free and fair, leading to the emergence of other officers including Vice Captain Oladotun Isiaka, General Secretary Olopade Akintunde and Assistant Secretary Ezekiel Ogunleye. Others are: Financial Secretary Tolulope Olugbemi and Competition Secretary : Segun Eleyowo who were duly elected as stipulated by the Constitution of the club
Others are Course Officer: Ijaola Oluseye, House Officer Oluwaseun Mendes, Ex-Officio 1 Kolawole Adeneye and Ex-Officio 2 Bashorun Ladi Adegbite.
In his Acceptance Speech, the AGC newly elected Captain , Professor Kola Adebayo assured members of running an open door system of leadership that is going to be all inclusive.
His words: "My personal commitment to you is that your voice will be influential in the management and administration of Abeokuta Golf Club. In pursuance of this, I acknowledge that the greatest strength of our Club is its members.To this extent, we shall not take you for granted. We shall continue to work with you to improve on the services in the Club and elevate our Club to a major golf destination in Africa."
He commended the efforts of the immediate past Captain Ladi Adegbite and his Executive Committee, and called on all past Captains and Lady Captains of the club to support the new Executive Committee with their worthy experience about development of the club asking them to continue to make themselves available and accessible to the Club.
Addressing the members, the Chairman Board of Trustees, Justice Ademola G. Bakre (OON), represented by Dr. Kehinde Osinfade, a member of the Board, appreciated the conduct of members especially the out-going Executive Committee and all the elected officers, saying that the Board is very impressed with the success of the election and they will continue to support the Executive to ensure rapid development of the Club.
Speaking after the election, a three-man AGC Electoral Committee 2024, consisting of its Chairman Chief Frank Omolayole, Secretary Dr. Tunji Apeleyin and Prince Toyin Gbadebo in their joint re-actions appreciated the cooperation in ensuring the smooth conduct of the election
"We appreciate the cooperation and support of every member of this Club for your understanding that enabled us to conduct this smooth transition process that we are celebrating today."
