Ogun State House of Assembly has approved the revised Medium Term Expenditure Framework for years 2024-2026 for the State,sent it last week by Governor Dapo Abiodun for consideration and approval
The approval followed a presentation of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation by the Chairman, Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, who later moved for its adoption, seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Lukman Adeleye and supported by all the State lawmakers during their plenary on Tuesday in Abeokuta
The motion for the approval of the State MTEF was moved by the Majority Leader Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by Hon. Yusuf Amosun and supported by the Whole House through a voice vote.
The Governor had through a correspondence last week notified the Assembly of the revised Medium Expenditure Framework to serve as a guide for the implementation of the 2024 budget proposal when eventually passed by the lawmakers
The letter reads in part: "About relevant sections of the Ogun State Fiscal Responsibility Law, 2020 (as amended), we have revised the 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (i.e. 2024-2026 MTEF) for the State. Consequently, on the above, I, therefore, seek your consideration and approval of the attached revised 2024-2026 State Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), so that the process of planning and budgeting for year 2024 and the outer years of 2025 and 2026 can continue in earnest"
Meanwhile, the Assembly has commended Dangote Cement factory Ibese, for fulfilling its part of obligations to the host communities by delivering the electrical materials needed to replace those damaged by its trucks, which led to the power outage in the host communities.
The Speaker, who made the commendation, while responding to the presentation of the lawmaker representing Yewa North 1 State Constituency, Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju, also enjoined the Management of the Company to immediately begin the process of construction of a trailer park near its plant to stop the indiscriminate parking of trucks on the roads in the area.
This is just as Speaker Oluomo requested the company to carry out repairs or apply palliatives on roads around the company while calling on the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure as well as local government councils to carry out palliatives on damaged portions of roads in the State.
Earlier Hon. Adeyanju had informed the Assembly on the need to appreciate the company for fulfilling its promise towards contributing to re-energize the communities that had been thrown into darkness following the damage caused by its truck drivers to electrical installations in the area.
