Lagos State University has launched it's branded water, *"LASU Water"*, as a means of boosting healthy living among members of the university community and raising the Internally Generated Revenue of the institution.
Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Lagos State University Governing Council, Sir. David O. A Sunmoni opened the LASU Water Manufacturing Plant, to mark the commencement of commercial production of LASU Water in various packages such as the 75cl bottle, the 50cl bottle and sachet water.
While opening the facility in the presence of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, members of the University Governing Council and Management of the institution, Sir. Sunmoni, said establishment of the water project is a commendable development, one that would not only improve the IGR of the university, but, also the quality of life of consumers. He assured that the Council of the university would continue to give adequate support to the University for all progressive initiatives.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olatunji-Bello says LASU Water is a quality product, approved by the relevant regulatory agencies and produced under the best of hygienic standards. She averred that the product, like the LASU Bakery, is one of the visions of her administration under the LASU Ventures to raise the institution's income while providing healthy food and drinks for members of the community. She encouraged all consumers in the university to patronize the LASU Water.
Director of the Lagos State University Directorate of Special Interventions, Prof. Taiwo Oseni Afisi, while explaining the process that went into the actualization of the project, said the business was kick-started with equipment donated by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), but, completed using the IGR, and thanked the TETFund for making the project a reality. He further explained that the manufacturing plant would be handed over to the Lagos State University Ventures to run.
The manufacturing plant is equipped with state of the art facilities from plastic bottle manufacturing equipment to water treatment facilities amongst others. Delivery vehicles have also been acquired to make distribution of the product seamless.
