Sustain Modern Practice -Ogun Assembly Service Commission Chairman Charges Alternate Medicine Practitioners




          



Alternate Medicine Practitioners in 
Ogun State have been charged to sustain  the modern practice of the profession in line with government directives and policy of the World Health Organisation (WHO), targeted at complementing the efforts of the scientific medicine practitioners.

     
 Chairman of Ogun State House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon. Waliu Taiwo gave the charge during the swearing-in of the new executive members of Ogun State Traditional Healers Association, held at the State College of Nursing and Sciences Hall, Federal Medical Centre, Idi- Aba, Abeokuta.
          
Taiwo urged the practitioners in the sub- sector to embrace all the policies put in place by the Ogun State Government, to further enhance their profession and provide accessible, affordable and quality Healthcare services to the citizens of the State, saying the scientific practitioners cannot achieve the service required all alone, hence the need for alternative intervention 
   

    


   
In her remark, the Executive Secretary, Dr. Kafayat Lawal, who also doubles as Registrar of the Board, represented by Mrs. Ola Sobande, applauded the association for their good conduct since its establishment, imploring the newly appointed executives to continue the legacies of their predecessors in promoting the best practices.

          
She assured them of government support at all times as long as they comply with the rules and regulations guiding the practice in the State, adding that the present administration in the state will not relent in its efforts to promote the practice to world-class best in no distant time.


Speaking on behalf of members of the association, the Oba Isegun General for Remo, Chief Olaseni Adeokun, appreciated the leadership of OGAMB, Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye for the active role played in stabilising the association in the State.

Responding, the new President Ogun State Traditional Healers Association, High Chief , Ademola Akanbi , appreciated members of the association for the great honour bestowed on him and other executive elected to lead the association to greater heights among others, assuring that he would not condone ethnicity or tribalism.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman planning Committee OSTHA , Chief Oyenuga Emmanuel, appreciated the present administration for supporting the board, expressing gratitude to Almighty God  for witnessing  the day. 

He thanked Governor Dapo Abiodun for his passionate concern for  resuscitating Ogun State Alternate Medicine that had been in the record of the State as Agency since , "promulgated State Edict" 1990 no2 schedule 1 (Section 7). 

He also commended  Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye for effectively managing the affiars of the board well.
                                
Speaking on behalf of the members of the association, the Oba lsegun general for Remo, Chief, Olaseni Adeokun, appreciated the leadership of the pioneer Chairman OGAMB Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye for his active role in establishing the association and ensuring smooth transition among the members.      



"Kudos to the founding fathers for persuading us to  listen to the representative of WHO in  1986 asking us to form the association purposely to take care of people health in an indigenous ways and  manners as health sectors required more hands."
