TRACE Moves To Reduce Road Crashes.. Takes Road Safety Awareness To Schools In Ogun

Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE),  Command has taken its road safety awareness campaign to Yewa College, Ilaro and Itori Senior High School, Agbon, Itori, as part of moves to inculcate the spirit of safety consciousness among the youth, so as to road crashes in the state

The Area Commander in charge of Area 9 Command comprising of Ilaro and Ewekoro Divisions, Ebunoluwa Akinkunmi, who embarked on the campaign on the directive of the TRACE Commander/Chief Executive Officer, Commander ‘Seni Ogunyemi, said the students were expected to put safety first in all they do, particularly while in transit.

Area Commander Akinkunmi, represented by the Divisional Commanders, Ilaro and Ewekoro Commands, Cdr. Solomon Salako and Cdr. Jimoh Salabiu  at their respective Commands, noted that it was imperative to educate students in secondary schools on road safety consciousness and encourage them to be responsible road users, as well as introduce them to TRACE Road Safety Club.

According to him, "As students, you should be able to identify road signs, safe ways of crossing the road, the need for reflective clothes at night, and the need to avoid night driving and being drunk while driving. Also, as change agents, we must encourage our parents to obey simple traffic rules and regulations, especially excessive speed and the use of phones while driving, in view of its attendant consequences".

Appreciating the Corps, the Vice Principals of Yewa College, Ilaro and Itori Comprehensive High School, Mr. Akin Akinsanmi and Mrs. Folusho Durodola, described the campaign as a worthwhile step that would assist the agency in achieving its objectives.
