Gov Abiodun Lauds Babcock University For Producing 164 PhD Candidates, Charges Holders To Be Opened To New Ideas





Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has lauded Babcock University Ilishan-Remo for producing  one hundred and sixty (164) doctoral candidates including 93 males and 71 females, charging the newly hooded PhD holders to be curious and be opened to new ideas and continue to challenge the status-quo 

The Governor  represented by the Secretary to State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, was speaking at 12th postgraduate graduation ceremony of the university, where he also charged them to continue to extend their brilliance beyond academic achievement to leading a meaningful and  fulfilling lives

He commended Babcock University for rising up to the challenge, saying “the list of candidates hooded reflected the areas of human capacity needed for the continued development of the society.


“We cannot have this large number of higher institutions in the state, and also produce quite a number of PhD graduates yearly, and yet still keep seeking for specialists in various sectors of the economy”,he said 

Similarly, the President/Vice Chancellor, Professor Ademola Tayo charged the graduands to take advantage of the expertise they have acquired to tackle some of the wide-ranging societal problems and to stand tall in their academic and professional pursuits. 

He reminded the doctoral graduands that obtaining Doctor of Philosophy was not the end of learning as they have to collaborate with scholars along various disciplines in order to arrive at a cutting edge research. 


“As you celebrate your achievement, be reminded that your certificate is valuable to the extent you use your knowledge to bring about positive change in the society with high sense of integrity and honesty. Remember, team work is the catch word if you are to make your mark in your profession,” he added.

Professor Tayo said “this year doctoral candidates presented for hooding was the highest since the establishment of the college; the first time a couple would be hooded as doctoral graduands as well as the first time the College presented doctoral candidates for hooding in Nursing Sciences, Finance and Economics since its establishment”.

The Vice Chancellor also noted that highly placed personalities in academia, corporate world, government circle and judiciary were among the hooded doctoral candidates.While congratulating the graduands, 

Professor Tayo expressed gladness that the university requirement of publishing at least two articles in high impact Category A or B rating peer review journals were met by all the hooded candidates.
