Ogun 20 LGAs Get N6.348B Share For APRIL

The 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs)in Ogun State have received total share of N6,348,074,987.29 as  their monthly share from the Federation Account for April 2023.

The total shares amount includes, Statutory Shares, Value-Added Taxes (VAT), Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), Solid Mineral, Non-Mineral, Forex Equalization and Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Program (SURE-P) for April 2023.

          

The State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, who disclosed this at the Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) Meeting for May 2023, held at the Oba’s Conference Hall, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the slight surplus would accommodate all the first line charges that represented joint contributions from all local councils for May 2023, without recourse to State government for augmentation.

The Commissioner, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Minisrty, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi noted that the meeting would be determining a whole lot, especially the level of development in the LGAs from time to time.

In his presentation regarding the federal allocation for the month, 

Also.the State Commissioner for Finance and  Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, represented by the Director of the State Treasury, Mr. Arinola Adetayo, said the sum of N6,348,074,987.29 was received as April 2023 shares from federal allocation to the 20 Local Councils in the State, compared to what was received in March, which stood at N3,812,189,793.89.

          

The Commissioner said the sum of N4,531,198,751.97 would be needed for the payment of first-line charges, which included Primary School Teachers’ Salaries, Local Government Staffs’ Salaries, Pensions, Traditional Councils, and Statutory Payments to the Local Government Service Commission.

          

According to him, other charges were, May 2023 Leave Bonuses to the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and Local Government Staff, noting that PAYE and five percent Bond Pension, which amounted to a sum of N313,754,339.32, were excluded from the first line charges, while the sum of N2,130,621,574.64 remains as a net surplus for the month.

          

Responding, the Chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Babatunde Emiola-Gazal, expressed satisfaction over the disbursement of allocation for the month.
