Ogun State government has asked prospective investors who are interested in establishing businesses in the State to always follow due process in acquiring lands for the construction of their factories and offices.
The State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe gave the advice in Abeokuta while presiding over a meeting between the officials of the State Housing Corporation, Bureau of Lands and Survey, and a pharmaceutical company Jehyson Healthcare Limited, based in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the State which sought government intervention over a land acquisition challenges.
Longe added that investors who prefer to go through inappropriate channels in acquiring lands are prone to falling into the hands of those who may sell government-acquired lands to them, a situation which would hinder their business objectives and also disrupt the government's development plan for communities.
The Commissioner added that as the State continues to wax stronger as investors' preferred destination under the present administration, the government had made land acquisition seamless for investors who are genuinely interested in acquiring lands.
Speaking on the request made by the pharmaceutical company, the Commissioner stated that the present administration as an investment-friendly government intervened so as to amicably resolve the issue.
"What we have done is to facilitate this meeting where we have representatives of the relevant agencies so that the issue can be resolved and they can testify about the favourable business environment in Ogun State. There are lessons for investors to learn. Investors need to follow due process in acquiring lands", Longe said.
In her remarks, Managing Director, Jehyson Healthcare Limited, Pharm. Adebanke Jehoiakim lauded the State government for promptly attending to the needs of the company and making the State conducive for investment.
In another development, Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe says participation at the 12th Gateway International Trade Fair held at the M.K.O Abiola Trade Fair Complex, Abeokuta has been encouraging despite the challenges faced by the scarcity of Naira notes and fuel price.
Longe made this known during the tour of the pavilions at the Fair Complex calling on residents of the State to participate in the event and patronise exhibitors.
Also speaking, two of the exhibitors, Public Relations Manager, Mikano International Industries, David Fakuade and Acting Manager, Proforce Air systems, Mr. Olusola Ogunyemi who described the Trade Fair as an encouraging platform, stated that the event which is scheduled to end on Monday, February 13, 2023 had continued to improve day by day.
