The Vice Chancellor of Crescent University Abeokuta, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila has described the institution as Nigeria's symbol of unity, where all the thirty six states of the country is represented in students' population.
Prof. Gbajabiamila stated this on Saturday during the 18th Matriculation Ceremony of the institution where he also described as fake, the news making round on online news platform as regards the ranking of the university, which according to him, is spurious and targeted at demarketing the institution
He said Crescent University scored one hundred percent in the last round of accreditation of all programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC), a body saddled with the regulation and quality control of university programmes in Nigeria, urging parents to check the authenticity of information about programmes with the NUC.
Addressing the fresh students at the matriculation , the vice chancellor revealed that more than one thousand students have been admitted for the 2022/2023 academic session into six colleges namely: the Bola Ajibola College of Law (BACOLAW) ,College of Arts ,Social and Management Sciences (CASMAS),College of Health Sciences (COHES),College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CONAS), College of Information and Communication Technology (CICOT) and College of Environmental Sciences (COES).
He noted an impressive rise in the application of female candidates as against when the institution was established in 2005, stressing that during the first matriculation, the Founder/Proprietor, His Excellency, Bola Ajibola had informed that 70% of male and 30% of female was recorded at the inception of the university in 2005 during the first matriculation .
He explained that judge Ajibola had anticipated a day when the university would admit a 50:50 male-female student ratio.
The Vice-Chancellor however hinted that percentage of the female students had "risen impressively that the university is matriculating 70% female students and 30% male students".
While charging the male matriculating students, he said the university had recorded more best graduating students and first class female graduates than male, pointing out that majority of the female students worked hard from the beginning and were always seen reading in the university library.
Prof. Gbajabiamila also used the occasion to express his gratitude to benefactors who gave scholarship awards to deserving students this academic session, namely Judge Bola Ajibola for his scholarship of academic and moral excellence, Rosula Foundation,Chief Bode Mustapha, Ibeji Foundation and Dr (Mrs) Mosun Belo-Olusoga.
