Ogun State Government has cautioned principals in its 511 secondary schools not to engage in any untoward activities that could cause embarrassment to them and government, so as to sustain the rich tradition of discipline and dedication the the State would continue to be reckoned with in educational development.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu who gave the advice at Abeokuta Grammar School, Idi-Aba, during a strategic meeting with the Principals ahead of schools resumption, encouraged them to continue to adhere strictly to directives of government in tandem with free education, admission, transfer and other processes.
Arigbabu called on the school administrators to come up with pragmatic initiatives that would help move their schools to an enviable heights, assuring that “some of the processes in the education sector will be institutionalised to outlive the present administration”.
The Commissioner who commended All Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) for sustaining trainings and workshops to develop and sensitise its members on 21st century methodology, charged the Principals to be good ambassadors that would propagate the present administration’s policies and programmes, adding that government would not renege in its promise to make life easier for Principals and teachers.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Teaching Service Commission, Evang. Olalekan Ifede, applauded the school managers for being prudent, imploring them to always comport themselves professionally and avoid any act that could jeopardise their career.
In her address, the State ANCOPSS President, Dr. (Mrs.) Olubunmi Womiloju reaffirmed the commitment of Principals to support the government in the delivery of qualitative education.
