Ogun State Government has assured residents, especially motorists mostly transporters that the long awaited 6.5 km Lafenwa-Rounder Road ,a major commercial road linking Abeokuta,the state capital to major towns of Ayetoro and Imeko within the state and others in neigbhouring Oyo State ,would be completed in July
The State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya gave the assurance in an interview with newsmen in Abeokuta, saying the laying of asphalt which commenced recently will continue consistently on the road.
Akinsanya who reiterated the present administration’s commitment to the project due to its importance, added that the road would be a catalyst for developmental growth.
The Commissioner said the market area which is close to the railway line was redesigned to avert accidents on the road, saying after completion, the Nigeria Railway Corporation would relay the rail lines for road users.

administration is aware of the importance of Lafenwa-Rounder Road which is the gateway to the food basket of the State, as we know that fruits, vegetables and crops are brought from Ayetoro, Ilara, Imeko axis of the state to Abeokuta.
Although the road was abandoned by the previous administration, the present government has deemed it fit to continue the projects for the benefit of the citizens and to improve the State economically", he stated.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alamala branch, Mr. Sunday Taiwo appreciated the government on its developmental strides, especially on road infrastructure, which had reduced the cost of maintenance of motorists’ vehicles, calling for more to be replicated in other areas of the State.
Also speaking, some shop owners at the Market, Mr. Akinlade Abiodun and Mrs. Olawaseun Fatoyinbo respectively commended the Governor for alleviating the hardship and suffering of traders at Lafenwa market, saying the road when completed would impact positively on their businesses, as they would have more sales and would reduce hardship experienced over time as a result of dust and traffic bottleneck in the area.
The completion of the road will decongest the usual traffic on the road and give succor to motorists, traders, as well as residents .
