Ogun State House of Assembly has demanded for return of its constituency allowances, to execute capital projects and restore dignity of members in respective constituencies across the state
Speaker of the house, Right Honourable Olakunle Oluomo made the passionate appeal on Tuesday,during formal presentation of the 2022 Appropriation Bill of N350.74Billion by Governor Dapo Abiodun to the lawmakers during plenary in Abeokuta, for consideration and approval including N170 billion for capital projects as well as N75billion as personal cost and N51billion as over head cost while N28billion was set aside for debt servicing
"We are moving into the third year without constituency projects, we are pleading that Governor Dapo Abiodun should restore our dignity at home by approving constituency allowances for us to execute projects and make impact", Oluomo pleaded
The speaker urged the governor to give priority to issues that would strengthen the legislative, executive relationship , promising to ensure proper scrutiny of the budget estimate and ensure its passage within record time
Abiodun had given the breakdown of the Appropriagion,2022 bill christened Budget of Restoration, allocating highest share of N106 billion to enablers which included general public service, public order and safety, stabilization fund, jurdiciary, legislature, pension and gratuity while N82billion was provided for provision of Infrastructure including ICT, power, transport and industrialization drive of the State
The governor added that N86billion would be allocated to the social welfare and well which has health, housing, environment, physical planning, special needs while N56billion was earmarked for Education sector which has early childhood, vocational, technical and tertiary
He revealed that N15billion would be expended on agriculture and forestry while the least allocation of N6billon was voted for youth empowerment, sports and entertainment sector
