National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS in the South West (Zone D) has asked Governor Dapo Abiodun to immediately implement the change in the name of the Tai Solarin College of Education, TASCE to Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology, Omu-Ajose , Ogun State
Edu-Biznews recalled that the State House of Assembly on 1st of July, 2021, passed the bill changing the nomenclature of the college but the change is yet to be implemented by government since the governor has not assented to it ,five months after the passage of the bill
Disturbed by the continous delay in the implementation' of the change of name to reflect the college's new name and status, NANS in the zone led by its Coordinator, Comrade Adegboye, Emmanuel Olatunji, on a working visit to the management of TASCE on Monday, therefore demanded for immediate implementation of the bill as passed by the house
"We however call for quick implementation of the proposed change of name of the institution. It is pertinent to note that the reasons cited for the name change are valid and crucial. We urge the Ogun State House of Assembly and the Governor of Ogun State to jointly ensure that it is fully implemented", NANS insisted .
The Zonal NANS however passed vote of confidence on Provost of the Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu-Ijebu, Dr. Lukmon Kiadese for his managerial style of running the Institution
The visit which also coincided with the scheduled accreditation excercise of the Institution, provided the rare opportunity for NANS Zone D leadership to interact with the provost and his management team.
The provost during a brief meeting with uthe Zone D leadership, TASCE Students Union and the institution’s management, unveiled various laudable programmes his management had completed and those to be embarked soonest which the college's Students Union Government also commended and expressed its maximum support for the management of the Institution.
"In light of our experience while touring the school, feedbacks from the Students populace and the Union, we hereby pass a vote of confidence on Dr. Lukmon Kiadese, the Provost of Tai-Solarin College of Education, Omu-Ijebu" NANS stated .
'We are convinced in his intellectual acumen, financial prudence and management epertise which will further take TASCE to higher heights"the students leadership noted .
"In addition, we appreciate the Ogun state government for prioritizing Education and providing continous financial and moral intervention for schools in Ogun State and most especially in TASCE.", the students apex body commended
NANS asked other Institutions of Higher of learning within the zone to be ready to receive its team on a working visit to them respectively
"Other higher institutions across South Western Nigeria should be expecting the train of NANS South West as we shall leave no stone unturned to ensure that we justify the mandate given to us by the Nigerian Students in the entire Southwestern region"
