Insecurity:So-Safe Corps Tightens Security In Schools In Ogun

Ogun State Community Social Orientation And Safey Corps has tightened security in and around schools in the state, as part of security measures to prevent possible attack and Kidnapping of school's children

Edu-Biznews recalled that a Yoruba group under the aegis of Apapo Odua Koya had last March 10 raised security alarm, alleging that some terrorists were planning to hide in forests and unleash attack on schools and kidnap children in Ekiti, Lagos, Ondo Ogun, Osun and Oyo states in  South West zone in Nigeria

Also the State Government owned Gateway ICT Polytechnic Sapaade, in Remo North Local Government Area, last April 29 asked its students to go  on semester break, following the insecurity situation arising from the Kidnapping of two female students, Precious Adeyemo and Abiola Oyefule of the Ayetoro campus of the Olabisi Onabanjo University who later regained freedom and a teacher, Mrs Akinbola Olusola Abosede of Community High School in Ilara-Yewa in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area who was also abducted by gunmen and released

But the So-Safe Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo in an exclusive chat with Edu-Biznews in Abeokuta on Monday, explains that the situation is now different and well secured, as the security outfit had started acting on the security alert from the group, by beefing up security in and round schools, particularly the mission schools with boarding facilities in collaboration with the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology

Ganzallo added that the corps had identified the flash points and deployed some of its Operatives usually dressed in mufti, to monitor strange movement and gather intelligence, particularly around schools and forests in the state

His words", We are working assidiously to make sure that such a thing does not actually happen in our great state, Ogun State Government is not taking that information lightly, we are gathering information on movement of people in our forests, we are moving to the flash points we have in Ogun State"

"We are deploying officers in mufti around our schools. At night we are having a strong patrol team moving round most of our schools, particularly those mission schools with boarding facilities, because that is usual target of the bandits. During the day we are patrolling , we are doing and government is assisting", he added

On some of the schools prone to attack by the bandits, the So-Safe Corps boss says  that the corps are fine tuning on how to deploy its officers to the affected Schools, to ensure the protection of principals, teachers, pupils and staff

" We are working in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Science and Technology, we are fine tuning how we can actually deploy officers to schools actually mentioned, the principals, teachers, pupils and staff of those Schools are being monitored, that is actually what we are doing,"Ganzallo stated

The So-Safe Corps Commander however commended the publics for providing useful information to the security agency through text messages, WhatsApp messages and phone-calls which according is missing in the Northern part of the country

He expressed appreciation to the unlimited support of Governor Dapo Abiodun as well as his  Special Adviser on Security, AIG Olusola Subair, (retired), Security Assistant, Biyi Odubote and Service Chiefs for working assidiously to make sure that the schools are secured

The Security Chief urged residents, particularly those whose houses are close to the schools, to be security cautious and always provide useful information on any suspicious movement in and around their respective environments for prompt response of security agencies in the state
