Ogun To Develop Solid Minerals, Create More Jobs



Ogun State Government has expressed its readiness to be the leading state in Nigeria, in terms of solid minerals development and exploration, to further create investment opportunities and boost the economy of the state

The State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. kikelomo Longe  dropped the hint during Ogun State Day at the recently concluded 10th Gateway International Trade Fair at the MKO Abiola International Trade Fair Complex in Abeokuta, the state capital.

"Ogun State is intensifying effort to diversify its economy through development of solid minerals inline with its goal of becoming the leading mining and exploration state in the federation,"Longe revealed


She explained that the plan to develop of solid minerals deposit was part of the Dapo Abiodun's administration strateges to diversify the state's economy to consolidate on the achievements recorded in the agricultural sector where the state has emerged as number one in poultry products and cassava production in the country 

Longe who described the theme of the 10th edition of the International trade Fair "Transforming Agriculture and Commerce In Highly Competitive Global Market" as quite instructive , promising that the state would continue to work closely with development partners as well as Small and Medium Enterprises to further take advantage of opportunities in agricultural value chains to create more jobs and enhance revenue profile of the state.


The Commissioner urged investors to take advantage of conducive and business friendly environment, to set  up their factories and processing plants, assuring them of government's policies that would protect their Investment

I'm confident that this year's trade fair is profitable and has achieved its objectives  and our target for next year's trade fair is to attract 20,000 or more visitors daily from the 2,000 recorded this year'

Also the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Adeola Odedina assured Agro- allied industries, particularly processing plants of readily available raw materials to keep them running in the state

 "Agro-industries  should be sure of the fact that they are in good location and also benefit from sustainable raw materials that will keep their processing plants going" 

Governor Dapo Abiodun represented by his Deputy, Engr.(Mrs) Noimot Salako-Oyedele assured investors that government would continue to create conducive environment for businesses to thrive while making serious effort to continue to attract foreign direct Investment to create more jobs for people and boost revenue of the state

President of the Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA), Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye revealed that the trade fair attracted exhibitors from other countries including Benin Republic and Cameroon, researchers, Industrialists as well as multi-national and local companies 

He lauded the immeasurable support of the Dapo Abiodun's administration, particularly the ministries of industry,trade and Investment and its counter part in agriculture,to the successful hosting of the trade fair last held in 2018
