Ogun Govt Asks Residents To Stop Dumping Refuse On Roads



Ogun State Government has asked residents to desist from the act of burning and dumping of refuse indiscriminately on the roads, urging them to always assist government to protect public infrastructure and improve standard of living, by imbibing  proper maintenance culture   

The State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya made the call, while inspecting the asphalt laying along the Elite – Oke-Lantoro road, in Abeokuta, the state capital

He cautioned  that continous burning and dumping of refuse on the roads, particularly on the newly asphalted road, would not allow free flow of water, leading to  flooding.

His words, "Although the road has a covered drain, but it is still expedient to let you know that when refuse is dumped in the waterways, it will block the flow of water, which can damage the road with time’’.

Speaking, the contractor handling the project, Engr. March Seeman who assured that his company would ensure quality job was delivered within the record time

He stated that artisans and many other youths who were engaged in the construction work had been absorbed, appreciating the host community for their cooperation.

Speaking later in a chat with OGIS correspondent, some residents, Mrs. Funke Adeogun and Mr. Segun Fadahunsi, lauded the State government for the project, saying it would improve business activities in the area.
