Obasanjo Asks Ogun To Involve More Stakeholders In Waste Management




 Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has asked the Ogun State Government to involve various stakeholders in the waste management sub-sector, particularly in the recycling of waste to generate energy for domestic and industrial use, as well as compose manure for agricultural purposes.

Obasanjo made the call while playing host to the State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA) team, who were on a working visit to the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in 6Abeokuta, the state capital

He assured the management team of the readiness of the organisation to collaborate with the Agency, towards realising its goal.

Obasanjo lauded Governor Dapo Abiodun for his determination to improve on the serenity of the State, through the establishment of OGWAMA and procurement of Compactors, as well as flagging- off of other laudable interventions to ensure a cleaner environment.

Responding, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment and Chief Executive Officer of OGWAMA, Mr. Ola Oresanya said Agency is an enabler for employment generation, noting that over 30,000 direct and indirect jobs have been generated. He also appreciated the former president for   hands of fellowship to agency.

Highlight of the visit was the decoration Chief Obasanjo as the Grand Patron of OGWAMA
